Bath woman’s life transformed after pioneering medical treatment

A businesswoman from Bath has become one of the first people in the country to benefit from a pioneering regenerative treatment.

Chiropractor Helle Jones was desperate to cure constant pain in her knee joints, which was interfering with her daily life.

Going up and down stairs had become a problem, her favourite hobby of gardening became impossible and she had to slow her walking speed.

She already had undergone one patella replacement, which had not worked so she wanted to find an alternative solution to the two knee replacements that had been suggested by a surgeon.

The 64-year-old, who runs her own chiropractic practice, read on the internet about the innovative life-changing regenerative treatment being pioneered by Dr Ralph Rogers and arranged to meet the top sports and orthopaedic consultant at his Harley Street clinic in London.

After having an initial one-to-one consultation with Dr Rogers, Helle, who is originally from Denmark, decided that she wanted to go-ahead with the restorative treatment.

She underwent Lipogems therapy, a cutting-edge technology that harnesses the natural and powerful reparative capability of the patient’s adipose tissue reserves.

It involves extracting a small amount of fat from the midsection, or love-handles, following which a gentle washing in a closed-system device micro-fragments the fat, preserving its natural and beneficial properties. This is then injected using a small gauge needle into the specific area requiring treatment, for example the knee or hand joints.

Helle Jones, who has two children and one grandchild, said: “It was very frustrating not being able to do everyday things, which you usually do without a second thought, such as going for a walk or tidying the garden, because of the constant pain.

“After only a matter of weeks my knees are much better and I have been able to go back to my normal daily routines. I can walk fast like I used to and climb up and down stairs with ease as well as mow the lawn and weed my flower beds.

“The improvement has been nothing short of miraculous. I am so pleased that I decided to have this fantastic regenerative treatment - so much so that I can’t stop telling people all about it.

“I would strongly recommend this procedure and an important factor is that it is non-invasive.”

Dr Rogers is dedicated to transforming Orthopaedics as the first, and most experienced, doctor in the UK to offer regenerative orthopaedics and sports medicine for patients suffering from a variety of orthopaedic, musculoskeletal and sports injuries.

Dr Rogers, who has a clinic in Harley Street, said: “Helle is a prime example of how life-transforming this Lipogems treatment can be.

“It is great to see how the quality of life of patients, who could no longer enjoy day-to-day activities due to debilitating pain, is totally restored in the wake of the Lipogems therapy.”

The Lipogems device was invented in Italy by the world-renowned plastic surgeon Professor Carlo Tremolada, who was looking for a way to optimise fat for reconstructive applications. It has been rigorously reviewed by the US Food & Drug Administration and authorised for clinical use in the States since 2014.

Dr Rogers was trained by Professor Tremolada personally in Milan and his patients are reporting significant improvements. He is so confident in the treatment he now trains other doctors in its use.
